Geneva (Ohio not Switzerland)

 yeah, yeah, yeah!  Ohio wines suck.  They're sugar bombs for the novice palette.  Well, fuck you.  I want to hang with my friends and drink wine and eat pizza on a patio with heaters.   So let's talk about Geneva.  First it's close to Lake Erie.  Why not pretend it's the ocean! Find a lounge chair with a cup holder and look out at the water and dream.  Or maybe just shoot the shit with your pals.  Ambiance adds a little something to our experiences, don't you think?  My friends and I can have a good time anywhere, but an "ocean" view just makes me happy.   I bet on the lake there's a bit more night life, but you know me.  I love day drinking.  I want to hit as many wineries as possible between noon and five before passing out.  Geneva has a ton of wineries.  More than you can hit in a day, so do a little homework ahead of time.   Laurello has good pizza.   Baci winery has a nic...

The crows wish you a happy Halloween

 The crows were here yesterday.  When they flock they can be super loud.  We were out walking close to twilight.  The sound was so loud we had to investigate.  At first I thought geese.  Geese are often loud.  and they are common around here.  But this cacophony seemed never ending and was not coming from the canal.  Well we found them, the crows.  They were in some trees, on roofs, and all over the sky.  There were hundreds of them moving back and forth between a couple trees.  Their true numbers were hidden by the leaves.  Is this a fall thing?  Are they on their way south and just arguing over where to stay the night?   I never googled it.  I'd rather wonder at the oddity of it.  Black crows have a mystique generated by movies and songs and probably old myths I don't know about.  Pair that with the sight and smell of autumn leaves, it makes an impression, a spooky impression.  Why woul...
