Montreal
This year for Karen's birthday we went to Montreal. This city has plenty to offer in the way of museums, history and art and nature and churches. You can pretend you're in Paris! Speak French, go to Notre Dame, and have a croissant. Scratch that. Have a bagel. They're really good, and they do the 'all dressed thing' that I like.
Highlights:
Archaeological Museum had an old sewer. You know how I like sewers. I don't know how old they were but they look pretty much the same as modern ones.
A squirrel attacked Karen at the Botanical gardens. Well ok, it was just trying to get out of the trash can at the moment she passed. Still scared the crap outa her. Heh heh. They had beautiful Asian gardens with a lot of bonsai.
Mary Queen of the World is an ornate church. Beautiful! It is supposed to mimic St,. Peter's Basilica.
Notre Dame, another fancy church.
Food. Ok, the food was the best. We got tempeh dishes at Satay brothers in Atwater Market, excellent Indian food at Yogi's, and Chu Chai is the best vegan Thai place ever. Also the best ice cream was had at the botanical gardens. We were hot as fuck so that might have something to do with it.
Last but not least, I deigned to go kayaking with Karen again. This time we had our own boats. This is vital! No one else signed up so we had the tour guide all to ourselves! We kayaked through a lock! we got to see what it was like to have the water rise/lower to accommodate us! very cool, as I have a fascination with locks. When I told my bro he said, "you were in kayaks? you know you coulda just picked up your boats and walked around." He sucks.
