Anyone can be a hero

(Sorry, no catamaran pic as I don't like to mix
boating and drinking with my phone)

If you forget my booze, I'm not shy.  I'm still nice, but nope, not shy.  This anecdote starts on a catamaran in the Carribean.  It was an excursion, a pineapple and bubbles cruise, two of my favorite things.  BA was quite worried we'd be relegated to the shady seats.  She is a sun worshiper.  Sitting in the shade is tantamount to sacrilege, so physically moving another human being from 'her' spot is not rude, it's merely holy war.  Luckily, I know a bit about catamarans.  The best seats weren't taken yet!  those old fogies didn't know where the best seats are!  I do!  so, my first heroic act of the day, I directed us to the nets in the back of the boat.  those are the best seats.  Lots of sun, and closer to the sweet, sweet saltwater spray from the Caribbean Sea, while still room to get up and dance!

Around came the pineapple!  Gimme more!  Where's the champagne!?  Somehow, they forgot us.  How could they!  We're the fun people!  So off I go to politely inform the bartender we needed four glasses.  BA and I had made some friends like we do.  The kind sir handed me a bottle and four glasses.  The ladies in the bar recognized a hero.  They smiled and wished me well on my return journey, prize in hand.  I waltzed out bottle held high and proud and announced Ladies!  Ladies!  Gather round!  I imagine they cheered me and attempted to hoist me on their shoulders in celebration!  (yeah, I'm too old and fat for that!)  I was a true hero!  From there our hosts recognized us as the free-spirited fun people that we are and joined us in dancing.  We danced!  We drank!  We stopped for a float in the sea!  Is it raining?  The rain is the same temperature as the sea.  It's all good.

We came back to land too soon.  Always a bit too soon.  Leave 'em wanting more, I guess.  Still, take joy in the small things, I say.  Was bringing around champagne heroic?  Maybe not.  But it certainly gave me joy.
